quality materials
Each of my materials is carefully selected according to its look, its strength and stability and for its acoustic characteristics. I try as much as possible to buy locally and / or just use wood species that are little used in the traditional guitar world.
Unique designs
My instruments feature unique and attractive finishes. I take a less conventional approach. My designs feature innovative and sophisticated body shapes without leaning towards extravagance. The finishing products I use are "eco friendly".
Made entirely by hand
Guitars made one at a time in order to put the best of myself in each of my creations. They're kind of a part of me. Each instrument contains everything I know, everything I believe in and all the obstacles and pitfalls I had to overcome during the process.
about me
MV guitars is a small company specializing in the manufacturing, repair and restoration of guitars.
Being self-taught, I have deepened my knowledge with several research and private training courses over the years. I wanted to forge my own path and succeed by taking a much less conventional route. I also have several years of experience in woodworking as a carpenter and cabinetmaker.
To specialize in building acoustic guitars, I studied the rudiments of guitar making with Tom Bills through a mentorship program called Luthier Edge. I graduated in November 2021. This was followed by several years of self-directed study and experimentation.
I then studied under the direction of Eric Schaefer in an intensive training called Building an “OM” Acoustic at his private guitar making school. This was followed by additional training Tru-Oil Finishing: A Method for Acoustic Guitar.
I now have more than twenty guitars to my credit, not to mention nearly fifty electric guitar bodies manufactured for different luthiers and clients.
I primarily do string instrument repair and restoration at Long & McQuade, but I also do handmade guitar manufacturing and design at my personal workshop. My ultimate goal is to stand out in the world of traditional guitar and make a living from my guitar making full time. This led me to start my business called MV guitars on July 17, 2020.
